Helen Borowski died peacefully on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 in Spring Hill, Florida with her family by her side. Born Helen Slodochowski (Sweet) in Buffalo on April 20, 1925 to the late Stanley and Joanna Chorazy Slodochowski, she moved to Dunkirk, and graduated from Dunkirk High School. She married the love of her life, Francis Borowski on April 7, 1945, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church and raised their
family in the city they both treasured. Helen was a talented artist, seamstress and baker. She worked at Kobackers, Town and Country and
Dodson’s Jewelers in the years after raising her children. She was a kind, loving and generous soul who touched many lives. Although retired to Florida with her children, she often spoke of her cherished friendships and enjoyed meeting her friends at local restaurants in Dunkirk for
coffee. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Francis “Chink”; her four children, Frederic, Pamela, Steven and Elizabeth; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Sue Fitzgerald; and two broth-
