‘Fracking Facts and Fracking Fictions’ set for Tuesday

The League of Women Voters is sponsoring a discussion entitled, “Fracking Facts and Fracking Fic-tions” at JCC-North, 10807 Bennett Road, Dunkirk, Room 117.

The program will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Chiavetta’s Chicken BBQ March 9

Relay for Life Team Lucky 777 will host its third annual Chiavetta’s Chicken BBQ on March 9 at the First Ward Falcon Club, Lake Shore Drive, Dunkirk, from noon until sold out. Tickets are $9.

There will be a drive thru available, or eat in, and there will be a silent auction inside the club.

Red Cross blood donation center opens extra day

The American Red Cross of Southwestern New York will hold a special blood drive at the Fralick Donation Center in Jamestown on Wednesday from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m.

There is a current urgent need for blood due to the recent winter storms and freezing temperatures, which has canceled blood drives across the country.

Those who present to donate blood Wednesday will receive a $10 Tops gift card while supplies last. To donate blood, you must be 17 years old, (16 years old with prior parental permission), weigh at least 110 pounds and be in general good health.

St. Rose of Lima Forestville Spaghetti Dinner Sunday

The annual spaghetti dinner at St. Rose of Lima Church, 11 Center St. in Forestville, will be held Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. and everyone is invited.

Those who attend have a choice of the traditional red tomato sauce or the white Alfredo sauce over spaghetti. Both will be served with meatballs, salad, fresh bread and beverage. Dessert will be homemade Italian cookies with ice cream. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children. Takeouts are available.

In addition, gift baskets and raffles will be featured. A suggestion box will also be available for thoughts on the theme for this year’s summer lawn fete which is always the first Sunday of August.

Benefit for Jamie Krajewski today

A benefit to help the family of the late Jamie Krajewski will be held today from 12 to 8 p.m., at the Gowanda Slovenian Club, 36 Palmer St., Gowanda.

Jamie passed away suddenly on Jan. 18 and proceeds will help her family defray expenses associated with her unexpected death.

There will be raffles, silent auction, a bake sale, food, drink and music. Admission is $10.

Rec Center morning walk Monday to Friday

The Dunkirk Rec Center, located at the Chautauqua County Fairgrounds, offers a walking session Monday through Friday from 7:30 to 10 a.m. The cost is $1 per person.
