Volleyball officials

The Southern Tier West Board of Certified Volleyball Officials, Inc. will be conducting classes for all people interested in officiating New York State high school volleyball.

Classes will be conducted on Tuesday evenings from 6-9 p.m., starting on March 4 at the Ashville (Hewes Center) BOCES, located at 2615 N. Maple St., Ashville, NY 14710. There will be approximately seven to nine classroom sessions and four to six practical floor sessions conducted on dates to be determined.

Dunkirk Little

League registration

Dunkirk Little League will hold registration Wednesday, Feb. 26 from 6-8 p.m.; Thursday, Feb. 27 from 6-8 p.m.; and Sunday, March 2 from 2-4 p.m. at the American Legion Post, 211 Central Ave.

For baseball, all players who will be 4 years old before May 1, 2014 and who will not reach the age of 13 before May 1, 2014 may register.

For softball, all players who will be 6 years old before Jan. 1, 2014 and who will not reach the age of 13 before Jan. 1, 2014 may register.

For senior baseball, all players who will be 13 years old before May 1, 2014 and will not be reach the age of 17 before May 1, 2014 may register.(This is for all Dunkirk Residents).

All new and returning players must register.

All new players must bring their original birth certificates to registration. Hospital and baptismal certificates are not acceptable.

The fee is $40 per player. The fee includes team jersey with name/number and pants that players will keep. This is for all age groups – T-Ball, Minor and Major softball, Minor and Major baseball. The price is caped off at $110 for three or more family members registering.

The fee for the Senior Little League is $50. This is for all kids who played in the Concord League last year for Dunkirk residents only.

Parent/Guardian must be present at registration.

Volunteers are needed to serve as managers, coaches and team parents for the 2014 season. Information about how to volunteer or questions about registration can be directed to League President Gary Haase at 679-6929.

Concord FC soccer

Concord FC travel soccer registration will be held Saturday, Feb. 22 from noon until 3 p.m. at the Fredonia Middle School cafeteria.

Sample uniforms will be on hand for size comparison. Additional information is available at the travel soccer link on the NCSA website – www.myncsa.com.

Dunkirk athlete meeting

Mike Sarratori, Dunkirk Athletic Director, will be holding a sports informational meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. in the high school auditorium.

Any athlete planning to try out for a spring sport must attend with at least one parent. After the short meeting, there will be “break-out” sessions with the athlete’s coach.

The purpose of the meeting will be to review all procedures and policies as they pertain to athletics and to have any questions answered.
