George W. McQuiggan

George W. McQuiggan, of Dunkirk, N.Y., passed away on Wednesday, Febru-ary 19, 2014.

George was born on September 27, 1926, the son of the late George and Evelyn (Hayes) McQuiggan, Sr.

George was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII. Prior to his retirement, he was a self-employed painting contractor and also did restoration of antiques.

He was a member of several of the clubs in Dun-kirk. An outdoor enthusiast, he loved to hunt, equally followed with playing cards, OTB and collecting coins.

George is survived by his children: Sharon (Robert) Maze, Tim (Jan) McQuiggan, Mindy Christopher, Sue and Georgette McQuiggan; grandchildren: Cherish, Rob, Raichle and Samantha. Great grandchildren: Matthew, Kylie, Christopher and Mazie Jane. His brother John McQuiggan; sister Carol Bekeleski and his best friend Sam Genesuo.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Mary Jane and his son Michael McQuiggan; sisters: Janet Christopher and Joann Near and brothers Richard, Robert, Gerald, Joseph and Milton McQuiggan.

Flowers gratefully de-clined. Visitation hours and a Memorial Service will be held at the Larson-Timko Funeral Home, Fredonia, NY, in March with the date and time to be announced. Interment, with Military Honors, will follow at Webster Cemetery. “May the road rise up to meet you …”
