Staying balanced for life topic of Lunch and Learn

The Auxiliary of Brooks Memorial Hospital recently held its first Lunch and Learn Program of 2014 at the Shorewood Country Club. Lisa Muldowney, President of the Auxiliary, welcomed those attending.

Alona Forbes, program co-chair, introduced guest speaker, Tammy Kiszak, physical therapist at Brooks Memorial Hospital, certified in balance training. Her topic was “Staying Balanced for Life.” She developed the Balance Clinic at BMH, which offers a series of sessions throughout the year. Kiszak explained balance is affected by many factors, including age, pain and medication. Her program aims to help participants become better educated about balance, build strength and become knowledgeable about safety in the home. Those at the luncheon who completed the program gave glowing testimonies about its benefits. They said Kiszak made the program fun while building up spirit and the ability to get up and go.
