Frost(bite) Lake Erie Polar Plunge today at city pier
The first ever Lake Erie Polar Plunge sponsored by NCCYHA Steelers Youth Hockey will be held today from 12 to 2 p.m., at the Dunkirk City Pier.
All proceeds will benefit the Frost family, whose children Jack Jr., and Sydney are suffering from a rare disorder, Franconi anemia.
This is an extremely rare disease that affects the kidneys and causes serious complications. It affects only one in 500,000 people and only 10 to 20 people in the U.S. will inherit the disease each year.
The Frost children have been in and out of Roswell and other hospitals the past year and medical costs are skyrocketing. This will be the third fundraiser to benefit the Frost family.
Participants who raise $50 in pledges will earn the right to take the plunge into Lake Erie. Donations are also accepted. For more information, contact NCCYHA.com.
