Liberty Vineyards brings home sunshine state gold

SHERIDAN – Liberty Vineyards & Winery, of Sheridan, earned a number of prestigious medals at the recent Florida State Fair International Wine Competition. Every wine the winery entered into the competition received a medal.

Liberty’s popular Richter Red wine earned a double gold at the competition.

“Double golds are awarded to wines that each judge on the panel deems worthy of a gold medal. They are a great honor, and I’m especially pleased to earn a double gold for this special wine which is named after my grandparents who planted some of our vineyards,” said Gary Burmaster, who owns the winery with his wife, Pam.

In addition, Liberty received Gold medals for Reds, Whites & Blues, Riesling and Fredonia.

“We are so pleased with these gold medals. Reds, Whites & Blues is actually our best seller. It is a sweet rose wine that can be enjoyed on its own or we have a delicious Reds, Whites & Blues Sparkling Sangria recipe that takes just five minutes and uses just five ingredients, that is always a hit! Our Riesling is a classic, semi-sweet white that is perfect for enjoying with a variety of foods, from a turkey dinner to Chinese food or fried chicken. Fredonia can be mixed with some spices and mulled, making it a favorite for this long winter,” said Beth Margolis, marketing and special events manager.

In addition to the Double Gold and Gold medals, Liberty also received silver medals for Diamond, a semi-sweet white, Trifection, a semi-sweet Riesling blend, Purple Haze, a fun, sweet red made from Concord grapes and Cabernet Sauvignon, a classic dry red that is perfect with steak.

Chocolette, Traminette, White Side of the Moon, Lucy’s in the Sky and Cat Noir all won bronze medals.
