Thruway bans tandem trucks from Albany area to Pa.
ALBANY (AP) – Long tandem tractor-trailers are banned from traveling the Thruway from the Albany area to the Pennsylvania border south of Buffalo because of the severe weather hitting upstate New York.
The Thruway Authority announced the restriction late Wednesday morning for Interstate 90 from Exit 25A outside Schenectady to Exit 61 at Ripley in Chautauqua County in New York’s southwest corner.
The agency says tandem trucks are also banned from traveling on Interstate I-190, the Thruway’s Niagara Section between Buffalo and Niagara Falls.
Blowing snow and winds gusting more than 40 mph are expected to make driving difficult in parts of western New York later Wednesday.
