George W. McQuiggan

George W. McQuiggan, of Dunkirk, N.Y., passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2014.

He was born on September 27, 1926, the son of the late George and Evelyn (Hayes) McQuiggan Sr.

George was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WW II. Prior to his retirement, he was a self-employed painting con-tractor and also did restoration of antiques. He was a member of several of the clubs in Dunkirk. An outdoor enthusiast, he loved to hunt, equally fol-lowed with playing cards, OTB and collecting coins.

George is survived by his children: Sharon (Robert) Maze, Tim (Jan) McQuiggan, Mindy Christopher, Sue and Georgette McQuiggan; grandchildren: Cherish, Rob, Raichle and Samantha. Great grandchildren: Matthew, Kylie, Christopher and Mazie Jane. His brother John McQuiggan; sister Carol Bekeleski and his best friend, Sam Gennuso.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Mary Jane and his son Michael McQuiggan; sisters: Janet Christopher and Joann Near and brothers Richard, Robert, Gerald, Joseph and Milton McQuiggan.

Flowers gratefully declined. Calls may be made Monday (March 17, 2014) from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at the Larson-Timko Funeral Home, 20 Central Avenue, Fredonia, NY, where a Memorial Service will immediately follow at 1 p.m. Full Military Honors will be held at the Funeral Home after the service. A private interment will be in Webster Cemetery.
