Annual hockey tournament taking place at Steele Hall this weekend
The Northern Chautauqua County Youth Hockey Association is holding its annual tournament this weekend at Steele Hall.
The tournament got into full swing Friday and following are the game reports from?Day 1:
Aurora Ice 5, NCCYHA Steelers 4
Christopher Keller scored two goals while Brian Schiltz, Jacob Fontaine and Thomas Karalus each had one goal for the winners. Fontaine also had an assist for Aurora Ice.
The Steelers’ goals came from Tate Olson, Alex Rush, Ikaika Wojcinski and Simon Davis. Caleb Gorniewicz, Matt Lotter and Davis had an assist for the Steelers.
NCCYHA Steelers 3, Hamburg Hawks 0
Michael Person, Alec Schrader and Ethan Brunner each scored one goal for the Steelers.
James Rush IV had two helpers while Jack Storm, Jared Glowniak and Person had an assist.
NCCYHA Steelers 5, Cazenovia Chiefs 1
Christopher Buchanan netted two goals while Owen Nicosia, Michael Meredith and Taylor Mattoon each scored one goal for the winners.
Nicholas Pchelka had two assists while Buchanan, Carter D’Agostino, Meredith and Dawson Rafan each had one assist.
The Chiefs’ lone goal came from Ryan Kasniak off a feed from Alexander Kimball.
Hamburg Hawks 7,
NCCYHA Steelers 2
Neven Tanevski recorded the hat trick while Myles Schenfield, Aidan Tanevski, Robert Johnson and Andrew Bigelow each scored one goal for the Hawks.
The Steelers received goals from Alex Rush and Tate Olson. Simon Davis had an assist in a losing effort.
NCCYHA Steelers 3, TriCounty Eagles 0
Jared Glowniak got the Steelers on the board with a first-period goal assisted by James Rush IV. Glowniak scored again in the third period and Rush IV scored the Steelers’ third and final goal of the contest.
Connor Daniels and Jonah Rosas assisted Glowniak’s second goal while Rush IV’s goal was unassisted.
Aurora Ice 10, Erie Lions 2
Jacob Pierce scored four goals to help lead the Ice to a one-sided victory. Christopher Keller added a hat trick in the win.
Also scoring goals for the Ice were Braden Tent, Andrew Wlodarczyk and Brandon Neisbel.
Assists for the Ice were recorded by Brian Schiltz, Cameron Dannecker, Wlodarczyk (3), Pierce (2) and Jack Ervin.

Zach Chismer and JJ George scored goals for the Lions while Austin Guzowski and Connor Bablak recorded assists in the loss.
Hamburg Hawks 11, Erie Lions 1
The Hawks used five first-period goals to jump out to a quick lead en route to a convincing victory.
Goals for the Hawks were scored by Brandon Novoa (2), Zach Meinczinger, Andrew Genzel (2), Taylor Vogel, Jack Perry (2), Michael Willard, James Luby and Bo Johnson.
Assists for the Hawks were recorded by Johnson (2), Brandon Novoa, Joe Gogan (2), Willard, Lauria, Tyler Andrews, Jack Kernitz and Vogel (2).
Dominic Kaiser assisted on Cameron Wendel’s goal for the Lions lone score in the loss.
NCCYHA Steelers 4, Hamburg Hawks 1
Michael Meredith tallied the hat trick and Luke Mleczko added the fourth goal for the winners. Assists were credited to Mleczko, Taylor Mattoon, Dawson Rafan, Christopher Buchanan, Nicholas Pchelka and Austin Lewis.
Hamburg’s goal was scored by Bryan Solinski.
NCCYHA Steelers 4, Amherst Knights 3
Kevin Ganey, Michael Paradis, Andrew Chillemi and Ryan Meredith each scored one goal for the winners. Assists went to Paradis (2), Meredith, Adam Dziduch, Trevor Grupa and Riley Harris.
Tony Thomas scored two goals for the Knights while Michael Horton added one. Assists went to Lucas Kindron, Jordan McLear, Brendan Quagliana and Trevor Browning.
