Youth hockey tourney continues at Steele Hall

The 29th Annual Lake Shore Savings Bank Invitational Hockey Tournament continued Saturday afternoon at the Steele Hall Ice Arena. Below are results from the second of four days of tournament action.

Game 11

Hamburg Hawks 9, Erie Lions 2

Robert Johnson and Andrew Bigelow each tallied the hat trick while Nick Rogers scored two goals and Michael Riegle had one for the winners in Squirt action.

Assists for the Hawks went to Reigle (2), Johnson, Rogers (3), Kyle Kuczkowski, Ryan Fay and Nick Thompson.

The Lions’ goals came from JJ George and Isabella Gardener. Getano DiValerio, George and Gardener each had an assist.

Game 12

Tri-County 8, Erie 1

In Pee Wee action, Erie’s lone goal came from Dominic Kaiser off a feed from Cameron Wendel.

First names for Tri-County were not available.

Game 13

Hamburg Hawks 4, Cazenovia Chiefs 1

In Bantam action, Keegan O’Connor, Bryan Solinski, Owen Bean and Jordan Rusin each scored a goal for the Hawks. Assists went to Matt Songin, Ryan Coffman, O’Connor and Josh Cook.

Cazenovia’s goal came from Ryan Galley. Joshua Kacalski was credited with an assist.

Game 14

Amherst Knights 4, Hamburg Hawks 0

Justin Okun scored a pair of goals to help the Knights past the Hawks in Midget Division action.

Also scoring for Amherst were Derek Hafner and Brendan Quagliana while assists were credited to Joseph Strauch, Dominic Edmonds, Trevor Browning, Lucas Kindron and Michael Horton.

Game 15

NCCYHA Steelers 5,

Canandaigua Knights 0

Five different Steelers recorded a goal in their Midget Division win over the Knights.

Kevin Ganey got the host team on the board first while Ryan Sheldon, Dean Campese, Riley Harris and Michael Paradis also scored. Trevor Grupa and Ryan Meredith each had two assists while Andrew Chillemi and Alex Kelly added a helper of their own.

Game 16

NCCYHA Steelers 8, Erie Lions 0

The Steelers scored five first-period goals en route to an 8-0 win over the Lions.

Mike Persch started the scoring for the Steelers in the first and was followed by goals from Austin Rott, Ethan Brunner, Jared Glowniak and Connor Daniels.

Gabe Schrader added a pair of goals to give the Steelers a 7-0 lead while Jack Storm capped the scoring with his third-period goal.

Storm had a pair of assists to go with his goal while Schrader added two assists of his own. Also adding assists were Zach Korzeniewski, Gabe Persch, Rott, Glowniak, Mike Persch and James Rush IV.

Game 17

Tri-County Eagles 3,

Hamburg Hawks 2

In Pee Wee action, the Eagles topped the Hawks 3-2. First names for the Tri-County goal scorers were not available.

Scoring for the Hawks were Jack Kernitz and Brandon Novoa, with an assist going to Taylor Vogel.

Game 18

Hamburg Hawks 4,

Cazenovia Chiefs 3

The Hawks dropped the Chiefs in a Bantam Division playoff game after getting goals from Collin May, Josh Shamberger, Ryan Thompson and Matt Songin. Assists were credited to Josh Cook and Shamberger, who finished the game with two.

Scoring for the Chiefs were Jonathan Lasky, Carl Rolston and Alexander Kimball. Assists were credited to Joshua Kacalski, Kimball, Jonah Kozak and Harrison Rosen.
