Bowlers recognized at Gowanda school board

GOWANDA – Both the boys and girls’ bowling teams at Gowanda Central School received recognition for their remarkable seasons. The Lady Panthers bowling team went undefeated and the boys had an impressive title-winning season.

This is the first time the Lady Panthers have had an undefeated season, according to coach Lois Piscitelli. The girls claimed the title of CCAA Division III champions.

“It was awesome to be a part of (this team),” Piscitelli said.

The boys bowling team captured first place in the CCAA Division III with a record of 45-3. Both the bowling teams were presented with awards by Board President Lynn Hammond on behalf of the board of education. High School Principal Dr. Robert Anderson applauded the team and coaches for their successful seasons.

“It’s pretty phenomenal. kudos to the coaches and kids,” Anderson said.

The board also approved a parent donation of $238 to the varsity baseball team and the 2014-2015 school calendar. The board approved the retirement resignation of Superintendent Charles Rinaldi effective July 1. The board also approved Andrew Carriero as head modified boys lacrosse coach, Cody Williams as assistant varsity lacrosse coach and Ryan Gates as assistant modified boys lacrosse coach and accepted a donation of $238 from a parent donor for the varsity baseball team.
