Mazza Vineyards brings home best of show
NORTH EAST, Pa. – Local winery Mazza Vineyards brought home two double gold medals and a best in show, among other accolades, from the 2014 Pennsylvania Wine Competition in Lancaster, Pa., at the beginning of March.
Earning a double gold and Best Sweet Wine in competition was their 2011 Ice Wine of Vidal Blanc, which was created from grapes frozen on the vine, handpicked and pressed while frozen.
Mazza’s 2013 Gruner Veltliner, crafted from grapes grown nearby on Rassie farms, also earned a double gold.
Mazza wasn’t the only local winery to earn awards; three other North East wineries, Arrowhead Wine Cellars, Courtyard Winery and Presque Isle Wine Cellars each brought home some of their own.
Arrowhead’s Dazzling Niagara and Courtyard’s Chocopelli both earned gold medals.
