Rose Mansfield, 98, of Ripley, N.Y., and formerly of East Springfield, Pa., passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at her home.
She was born October 6, 1915, the oldest of nine siblings born to the late Clarence and Amy Miller in Francesville, Ind. She later moved to East Springfield in 1942. She worked part-time for several local farmers and also worked at the A&P Grocery Store in Girard, Pa. In 1966, she moved to Ripley, N.Y., where she worked at Welch’s and other local companies.
Until recently, Rose had remained active in many clubs. She especially enjoyed her card club. She also enjoyed gardening, flowers and traveling, having visited all the states but three. Her last trip was to Alaska at 91 years young.
Rose was preceded in death by a former spouse, Lester Mansfield; a companion, Guy Janes; two grandsons, Michael and Brent Mansfield; a great-grandson, Joshua Clark; two granddaughters, Cheryl Bauer and Rhonda Mansfield, three sisters, Opal Hefner, Elvina Byroad and Dorothy Kraut; and three brothers, Leslie, Bill and Charles Miller.
She is survived by twin sisters, Arlene Tarr of La Porte, Ind., and Marlene Zelaska of New Carlisle, Ind.; three sons, Dean Mansfield (Kathleen) of E. Greenwich, R.I., Jimmie Mansfield (Patricia) of Girard, Pa., and Richard Mansfield (Vicki) of Hudson, Fla. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Deborah Mansfield Aiello (Joe) of Gloucester, Mass., Jimmie Mansfield (Sue) of Pittsburgh, Pa., Melissa Mansfield Williams (Richard) of Cochranton, Pa., Deana Mansfield Games of W. Warwick, R.I., Jamie Mansfield Clark (Jim) of E. Greenwich, R.I., Joe Mansfield, Roy King (Linda) of Edinboro, Pa., and Scott King of Erie, Pa. Rose is further survived by twenty great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Wednesday from noon until the time of service at 2 p.m. at Edder Funeral Home Inc., 309 Main St. E., Girard, with Rev. William Leslie officiating. Burial will follow in Girard Cemetery.
