Message came on wrong day
U.S. Rep. Tom Reed’s announcement to run for re-election was barely a blip in this region.
On a day when it was announced northern Chautauqua County would be losing 425 jobs due to the closing of Carriage House, Reed was in the south county announcing his intentions for another term.
His message, on a rough day, was flawed for many here. “The No. 1 issue is how we are going to create jobs today for tomorrow,” Reed said. “I’m committed to jobs. I’m about jobs.”
But we need fewer proclamations from all politicians about the need for jobs. We all know that.
What our region needs is some action to create jobs. That action has to begin at home with fewer fees, taxes and excuses.
