Sabres Alumni to take on Pine Valley faculty

SOUTH DAYTON – On Friday, March 28 the Buffalo Sabres Alumni Association will be in South Dayton to play an exhibition floor hockey game against the faculty of Pine Valley Central School. Included in this lineup of Buffalo sportsmen will be Rob Ray and Andrew Peters. The proceeds from this event will benefit the PVTA Employee Scholarship Fund, which is awarded to an eligible senior upon graduation.

Founded in 1988, The Buffalo Sabres Alumni organization also donates their proceeds from events like these to deserving students throughout western New York, as well as donating to other community-based charities and organizations such as Roswell Park Cancer Institute.

During the game, there will be refreshments available for purchase to benefit the food pantries in both Cherry Creek and South Dayton, and a silent auction to benefit Brett Struble, a PVCS student diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

In addition, on Sunday, March 30 there will be several alumni basketball games starting at 1 p.m. and a final game between the New York State troopers and the PVCS staff at 6 p.m. All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Struble family.

The Pine Valley Faculty floor hockey team, known as the Sharks, has been in existence for seven years. They play student-led teams once a year in a friendly match to promote positive sportsmanship.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Pine Valley Elementary or High School offices, or by calling Pine Valley Central School at 988-3276. Pre-sale tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children 11 years and younger. Tickets at the door will be $7. The floor hockey game will be held in the high school gymnasium 7 p.m.
