Falconer picks up first win of season

FALCONER – Tyreek Hannold was a triple winner while Josh Fisher and Austin Ormond were double winners as Falconer opened the boys track season successfully on Tuesday.

The Golden Falcons won their Early Bird Invitational with 98 points followed by Westfield with 45, Silver Creek with 40, Frewsburg with 14 and Cassadaga Valley which didn’t score.

Hannold won the 100-meter (11.5), the 400 (53.5) and the 200 (23-6) while Fisher was victorious in the 110 high hurdles (16.2) and the triple jump (40-10).

Meanwhile, Ormond took the 1,600 (4:59.9) and the 3,200 (11.11) as the Golden Falcons won all but three events.

In the girls’ meet, the Falconer girls track team picked up its first win of the year thanks to a pair of wins by MacKenzie Wright and Alyssa Brooks.

The Lady Golden Falcons had 53 points while Silver Creek was second with 47 points, Frewsburg third with 43, and Westfield fourth with 24.

Wright was first in the 100 with a time of 13.4 and also took home the long jump in 14-11.

Brooks was victorious in the discus with a throw of 98-feet as well as the shot put with a distance of 30-4.

Morgan Scarpino doubled for Frewsburg as she won the triple jump with 30-6 and tied for first in the 100 hurdles. Also doubling for the Bears was Mackenzie Swartzman in the 800 in 2:41 and the 1,500 in 5:25.
