Silver Creek accepts principal’s resignation
SILVER CREEK – The resignation of Silver Creek High School Principal James Klubek was made official at a recent board of education meeting.
Klubek served as a teacher at Silver Creek between 1991 and 1999 before going to West Seneca School District and returning as the high school principal in 2010.
“The things that stick out to me is that he really cares about kids, he is a team player and he will be missed,” Superintendent Daniel Ljiljanich said.
Klubek will take the position as superintendent of Gowanda Central School District at the end of the school year.
Klubek said Ljiljanich, upon learning of his interest in being a superintendent, took him under his wing and prepared him for the job.
He said he has had “wonderful times” in Silver Creek as a teacher and principal and observing how the board of education and superintendent work together in the district has set a good example for him going into his new position.
Ljiljanich said at the next meeting the board will need to select a representative to serve on a search committee for the high school principal position.
The board also accepted the resignations of bus driver Bethany Baker, teacher aide Vicki Rocque and teacher aide Anne Abram.
The board made several appointments including Paul Hilliker as a teacher aide, Allison Gondek as teacher mentor, Carolyn Laurenzi and Victoria Tomasulo as play directors, Brittany Nichols as elementary extra curricular vocal advisor, Dan Foy as intramural soccer coach, Ray Graf as a volunteer boys and girls track coach, Anne Tahamont as modified softball coach, Caitlin Kane as It’s Academic (high school bowl) advisor and Allison Muck and Nicole Dobek as long-term substitutes.
The board also approved the senior trip to Cedar Point for May 30 to 31.
The board acknowledged a $2,500 donation from Applied Materials to go toward elementary field trips and activities.
The board will meet again on April 9.
