April is ‘Month of the Young Child’
In Chautauqua County, the National Association for the Education of Young Children’s (NAEYC) Week of the Young Child will be celebrated all during the month of April as the Month of the Young Child. Provider Appreciation Day (a day of recognition for child care professionals) takes place in May.
During both months, the Chautauqua Child Care Council and the Chautauqua County Association for the Education of Young Children (CCAEYC) have invited Family/Group Family Programs, School-Aged Programs, Licensed Day Care Facilities and Preschools to host open houses. The open houses will be held at the child care facilities on days and times that the programs have set.
Programs will welcome families to come and to visit and to learn about the services they have to offer the children in their care. Parents who attend the open houses will have an opportunity to ask questions and compare programs to help determine the best fit for their children and families.
April open houses to date include Mema’s House in Westfield; YMCA Heritage House Child Care Center in Jamestown; Chautauqua Lake Child Care Center in Mayville; Lake Shore Family Center in Irving; and Noah’s Ark Preschool in Falconer.
Little Busy B’s Daycare, Inc., in Silver Creek will host an open house in May. For dates and times, go to chautauquaopportunities.com and click on “Services” and “Chautauqua Child Care Council.” CCAEYC will also be listing the open house information at ccaeyc.org.
