Last Marsh Memorial Recital scheduled for Wednesday

Wednesday is the last Marsh Memorial Lenten Recital at the Dunkirk First United Presbyterian Church, 19 West Fourth St. The recitals are free public concerts during the lunch hour. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lunch and enjoy the church’s complimentary coffee along with live music.

The program is designed to provide members of the community and the general public with an opportunity for a period of peaceful reflection throughout the Lenten season.

This recital will feature Ann Park-Rose and Jillian Swanson. Ann Park-Rose was born in South Korea, and started the piano at age 5. She began improvising and composing at a very early age. She holds a degree in composition and piano from Wilfrid Laurier University in Ontario, Canada. She has appeared with the Canadian Chamber ensemble, and has been seen on CBC television. Her music has been performed and recorded by several artists in Canada and U.S., most recently by Kitchener Waterloo Youth Symphony and also by her husband, violist David Rose. She earned a master’s degree in piano performance at the SUNY Fredonia school of music under Father Sean Duggan.

Jillian Swanson is a full-lyric soprano who comes from Schaumburg, Ill. She has just completed her master’s of music in vocal performance from SUNY Fredonia where she studied under Julie Newell. She has a B.A. in music from Carthage College. She has sung numerous operatic roles. She serves as the worship singer for the evening worship service at First United Presbyterian Church of Dunkirk and recently began singing in the morning service.
