Mildred E. “Millie” Kruszynski
Mildred E. (Maternowski) Kruszynski, 85, of Dunkirk, NY and Clearwater, Florida died Monday (April 7, 2014) peacefully in Fredonia, NY at the home of her daughter and son-in-law surrounded by her loving family.
Millie was born on November 15, 1928 in Dunkirk, daughter of the late John and Catherine (Wincenciak) Maternowski.
Millie worked at the Van Raalte Factory and Safe Store in Dunkirk. She retired from Fredonia State University in 1989, where she worked in the Rockefeller Theater and Arts Building.
Her memberships include Blessed Mary Angela Parish Church of St. Hedwig in Dunkirk, NY and St. Michael’s R.C. Church in Clearwater, Florida. She belonged to the Sheridan Happy Seniors.
Millie loved to spend time with her family and friends and especially enjoyed spending her time with her grandchildren and great-grandsons. She enjoyed traveling, sight seeing and exploring new places and dining out with her late husband.
She is survived by her daughter, Shelley (Rick) Jakubowicz of Fredonia; her twin grandchildren, Jason Jakubowicz and Jaime (Ryan) Mourer; and great grandsons, Riley and Shane Mourer, all of Fredonia, NY.
Her daughter-in-law, Lauri (Reel) Kruszynski; granddaughter Victoria Wilcher; step grandson Kyle (Dana) Spence; and step great-grandchildren. Ellie and Michael Spence, Jasmine Wilcher and Kyla Turner, all of Jacksonville, Florida.
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Frank R. Kruszynski (March 9, 2013) whom she married on January 15, 1949 at the former Sacred Heart R.C. Church in Dunkirk.
Preceded in addition to her parents and husband is her son, Michael R. Kruszynski, who died in 2007; Godchild/niece Bonnie (Maternowski) Smith (2007); brothers Hank, Edward, Raymond and Richard Maternowski; and sister Florence (Maternowski) Cyganowski.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, April 10, at Blessed Mary Angela Parish Church of St. Hedwig at 10 o’clock. Interment will be in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery.
