Registration for GS camps now open

Meeting new best friends, spending time in the great outdoors, and having fun doing something new, like canoeing or horseback riding – these are just some of the activities girls experience at Girl Scout summer camp. Registration is now open for the 2014 Summer Camp season.

More than 30 new overnight camp programs are available, including S; Pony Pals, which is an introduction to the horse riding program where girls meet the horses, tour the barn, and learn about proper horse care; and Imagine and Connect, during which girls use Legos, and other materials to create a miniature theme park before going on a trip to Darien Lake.

All girls in grades kindergarten through 12 are invited to Girl Scout camp. A girl does not have to be a current Girl Scout. Girls can register as a scout as part of the camp registration process.

Girl Scouts of Western New York has five camps: Camp Piperwood in Vic-tor, Camp Windy Mead-ows in Cambria, Camp Timbercrest in Randolph, and Camp Seven Hills/-Goodyear and Camp Sev-en Hills/Lakeside in Hol-land.

Before and after care is an option and transportation is available for day camp. GSWNY also offers financial aid opportunities.

More information on GSWNY summer camp, including a list of all the available camp programs and details regarding the online or paper registration process, are available at gswny.org.
