No such luck

Fredonia’s second doubles team was the only bright spot for the Hillbillies (2-1) on Thursday as the Panama Panthers (2-0) prevailed, 4-1, in CCAA boys high school tennis action.

The second doubles team of Kyle Leysath and Dustin Wickmark defeated Quinn Payne and John Mayr, 6-4, 6-2.

Panama’s first doubles team of Mike Rinsel and Patrick Ragka needed a strong effort to take down Fredonia’s Mike Johnson and John Piper, 7-6, 6-4.

“Panama had very strong singles players with more playing experience,” Fredonia coach Lisa Johnston said. “It was very difficult and windy conditions. It’s our first time playing Panama and they are a strong team.”
