WNY Food Bank reorganizes Food Express in Chautauqua County
The Food Express is a service of the Food Bank of Western New York providing fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy and other food products to hundreds of local households regardless of income.
However, in recent months due to reduced funding, the Food Bank has restructured how the food is being distributed and has reduced the number of distribution points to increase cost effectiveness.
There will be 10 food pantries throughout Chautauqua County that will continue with the Food Express. The two locations for the north part of the county include Chautauqua Rural Ministry in Dunkirk and Neighbor to Neighbor in Forestville.
The Forestville Baptist Church at 5 Prospect St. in Forestville, previously served as the distribution site for the Food Express. However, due to the restructuring, the WNY Food Bank has changed the site to Neighbor to Neighbor, 9495 Prospect Road, at the Forestville Wesleyan Church.
Anyone wishing to participate in this program is welcome on the fourth Tuesday of the month between 2:30 and 5 p.m. beginning April 22.
Neighbor to Neighbor extends great appreciation to the volunteers at the Forestville Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Michael Stitzel who has worked with the Food Express over the past two years.
Neighbor to Neighbor is a food pantry serving the Forestville school district since 2000 and has been working with the Food Express for much of that time.
