Name of murdered toddler released

JAMESTOWN – The city of Jamestown Police Department continues to investigate the homicide of a 16-month-old female child who appears to have been beaten to death.

The child, Nayla Hodnett, was brought to the WCA Emergency Department Wednesday night by her mother before being transferred via Starflight for further treatment to Women and Children’s Hospital in Buffalo, where she died Thursday morning.

An autopsy was performed at the Erie County Medical Center and the cause of death has been ruled a homicide. The investigation is still ongoing.
