Benefit to be held May 4 in Brocton
A benefit fundraiser is being planned on behalf of Sylvia Corbett Mawhir on Sunday, May 4 at the John W. Dill Legion Post on Main Street in Brocton. Sylvia has been battling Adrenocortical Carcinoma since 2011.
The benefit includes a two mile walk for fun and a basket raffle. Participants are encouraged to design a t-shirt to wear to the walk incorporating the color teal, an awareness ribbon and the slogan “Strides for Sylvia”. Prizes will be awarded for the most creative shirts. Walkers will receive a “Strides for Sylvia” wristband and a light lunch. Music will be provided by The Untouchables from 2 to 4 p.m. Face-painting will be available for the kids.
Walkers can pre-register by picking up a form at the Green Arch Restaurant in Brocton or by sending an email request to email@example.com. You can also register the day of the benefit. Registration will begin at noon at the Legion, and the walk will begin at 1 pm. The registration fee is $10 per person and kids under 12 walk free. Donations can also be made at any Lake Shore branch for those unable to attend.
Sylvia, a Dunkirk High School graduate, currently resides in Brocton with her husband, Steve. They have two daughters, Kara and Katie.
