Pottery for the People class starts Saturday
ALLEGANY- The Cattaraugus County Arts Council announces a spring session of its most popular class, Pottery for the People. This introductory course is designed for beginners and will be tailored to meet the needs of each individual student. The six-week class will meet weekly on Saturday mornings beginning May 3.
Local ceramic artist and instructor Anne Mormile will guide students in all aspects of working with clay, glazing and firing. Participants will learn the basics of hand building, slab work, wheel throwing, form and function and a few secrets of the trade, as well. No experience necessary and all supplies are included in tuition. All students are eligible for independent studio time outside of the class. Community pottery classes are a perfect opportunity to explore creative talents, both for individuals and for groups of friends.
Pottery for the People will run from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. beginning on May 3 and ending on June 14. The cost is $110 for arts council members and $120 for non-members. Space is limited and classes fill quickly. All classes will take place at the Cattaraugus County Arts Council at 100 W. Main St., Allegany.
