Cougars fall to Westfield, West Valley
SINCLAIRVILLE – The Cassadaga Valley Cougars lost a pair of CCAA Division 2 high school track and field meets Tuesday in a pair of dual meets.
For the boys, the Cougars fell to Westfield, 83-36, and to West Valley, 87-28.
The Wolverines received a double-win performance from Daniel McMurray, who won the 110-meter hurdles (21.2) and the 800 (2:37).
Other first-place finishers for Westfield included Christopher Cockram in the 100 (12.4), Daniel Ackendorf in the 200 (28.2), Steve Strain in the 1,500 (5:55.1) and Jacob Gray in the discus with a throw of 102-feet-1-inch.
The Cougars’ Hunter Pastor won the 400 with a time of 1:02.9 while Zach Myers won the shot put at 35-9.
In the loss to West Valley, Cassadaga Valley’s lone first-place finish came from Myers in the shot put.
For the girls, Westfield took down the Lady Cougars, 89-33.
The Lady Wolverines’ Maddisan Knapp took first place in the 100 and 800 with times of 14.2 and 2:43.8, respectively. Emma Fermier did her part for Westfield with a first-place finish in the 200 at 31.3 while teammates Khelsa Connolly won the 1,500 at 5:56.1 and Grace Bodemiller won the 3,000 at 13:20. Molly Laurie won the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:18.4 for the winners.
The Lady Cougars’ Amber Morrison won the shot put and the discus with throws of 79-0 and 26-10, respectively. Hope Zielinski won the long jump (12-10) and high jump (4-0) while Krystalyn LeBarron crossed the finish line first in the 100 hurdles at 20.8.
West Valley breezed past Cassadaga Valley, 100-28.
For the Lady Cougars, Amber Morrison won the 100 at 14.9 while Zielinski won the long jump.
