Region VIII of NYS Women Inc. meet at Shorewood Country Club

Chadwick Bay Chapter hosted the Regional VIII Meeting of New York State Women Inc. on Saturday, April 26 at Shorewood Country Club. Lakeshore, Buffalo Niagara, Grand Island and Niagara Frontier Chapters were represented. Past State Presidents, Mary Stelley, and Sue Mager, along with Sue Fayle, our State Parliamentarian were in attendance.

In regional business, Ruthann Rocque of the Lakeshore Chapter was reelected as Director, and Diane Dinsmore of Grand Island as Assistant Director. The Grace Legendre Foundation application for 2014-2015 grants is on the website. Applications are available for special grants for programs to advance women in the work place through educational seminars. The registration forms for State Conference are due. The conference is scheduled from May 30 to June 1 in Albany.

In separate business, Connie Wojcinski, Chadwick Bay’s president of NYS Women Inc., along with Joan Houck, scholarship chairperson, and Nancy Mosier from Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation presented Kimberly Miller with Chadwick Bay’s scholarship for non-traditional students.

Miller works full time, raises her children and makes time to attend classes at Empire State College. She currently has her associate’s degree and is working toward her bachelor’s degree. She plans to become a guidance counselor. She thanked the chapter for its support in providing her the opportunity to continue her education.
