City to hold CDBG hearing today

The city of Dunkirk has finished compiling a draft version of its 2014 Community Development Block Grant Annual Action Plan and will hold a community participation hearing today at noon in the second floor conference room at City Hall to review the draft and solicit public comments.

CDBG Annual Action Plans outline community development projects the city plans to undertake during the program year with $472,735 in CDBG funding that was allocated to the city for the 2014-2015 program year. Combined with remaining unexpended monies from 2012 and 2013, the city will provide over $1.5 million in CDBG eligible activities.

Programs listed in the draft 2014 Annual Action Plan include: street improvements, park development, owner-occupied housing rehabilitation, rental rehabilitation, direct homeownership assistance, demolition, youth services, senior facilities, employment training and Meals on Wheels.

The draft Annual Action Plan was released to the public on April 18 with the public comment period ending Friday, May 16.
