Hillbillies take care of Marauders
The Fredonia Hillbillies (5-1) dominated Thursday and came away with a 5-0 victory over the Dunkirk Marauders in a CCAA?Division I boys high school tennis matchup.
Nick Johnston defeated Peter Kubera 6-0, 6-0 in first singles and Jacob Thompson earned another 6-0, 6-0 win over Duke Medema in second singles.
In third singles, Matt Burr dropped Conner Aitchenson 6-4, 6-0.
It was more of the same in the doubles as Kyle Leyseth and John Piper defeated Bryan Talacias and Rodrick Alverdo 6-3, 6-0 in first doubles while Mike Johnson and Dustin Wickmark pulled out a 6-1, 6-0 win over Brandon Katta and Ethan Story.
Fredonia will host Maple Grove today.

SALAMANCA – The Westfield Wolverines (5-3) picked up two wins over the Salamanca Warriors in a Division I tennis double header on Thursday.
The Wolverines earned a 4-1 victory in the first contest as Westfield’s Riley Harris defeated Mike Collins 10-2 in first singles and Judah Herr downed Mark Coban 10-0 in second singles.
Salamanca forfeited third singles to Josh McCord and first doubles to Josh Kitchen and Nate Oaks.
The Warriors lone win came in second doubles when Parker Butler and Kyle Perkin defeated Emma Mason and Jason Babcock 10-4.
In the second matchup, Westfield came away with a 3-2 win.
Mike Collins of Salamanca defeated Josh McCord 10-5 in first singles while Westfield’s Josh Kitchen earned a 10-0 victory over Mark Coban in second singles.
Salamanca once again had to forfeit third singles and first doubles to give the Wolverines a 3-1 lead.
In second doubles the Warrior’s earned a 10-5 win as Kyle Perkins and Kyle Butler defeated Brooke Bennett and Lora Backus.
The Wolverines are back in action today at home against Panama.
