Meredith throws no-hitter for T’birds
RIPLEY – Chautauqua Lake’s Tyler Meredith threw a complete game, no-hitter in a 23-0 victory over Panama on Friday in CCAA West II high school baseball.
Meredith, a freshman southpaw, threw his second complete game victory of the season, striking out 10 and walking three. He was also the beneficiary of a solid defense, as no Panama runner reached second base.
Leading the offensive attack for the Thunderbirds (5-1, 7-2) was Kyle Mayer with three hits, including two doubles, and four runs scored.
Ryan Linnecke had two hits and three RBIs and Tyler Furlow added two hits in the win. Also for Chautauqua Lake, Ryan Stewart drove in four runs to pace the offense.
Starting pitcher Josh Eddy took the loss for the Panthers.
