Spring Migration Bird Banding Demonstration, 7-11 a.m., 1600 Riverside Road, Jamestown. Tag along with ornithologists (bird scientists) to see how the capture, band, and release birds for research purposes. Donations appreciated.

Chautauqua County Office of the Sheriff Boater Safety Course, 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. Lawson Center, 73 Lakeside Drive, Bemus Point. Lunch will be provided. Attendees age 18 and over will have to pay a $10 fee to New York State to receive their certification card. Safety courses are free to anyone ages 10 to 17. Required for anyone born after May 1, 1996 to operate any vessel in NYS. Anyone born prior to May 1, 1996 is exempt from this requirement unless they plan to operate a personal watercraft. Registration will take place at the course and parents of attendees under the age of 18 must sign a release form.

Trowel Talks: Growing Great Greens with Sherry Lanz, 10 a.m., Dunkirk Free Library, 536 Central Avenue. Gardening workshops presented by the Chautauqua County Master Gardeners through the Cornell Cooperative Extension program. Workshops are FREE and open to the public. Spring Fling Craft and Vendor Show, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sheridan Community Center (Formerly St. John Bosco Hall), 2773 Main Rd., Sheridan, hand-crafted gift booths and small home businesses from approximately 30 Western New York vendors. Vendors will be selling everything from jams to jewelry, blankets to beach glass, candles to candy, paper, wood glass and more. A $1 admission fee will benefit the American Cancer Society. Walk for Fun, a Basket Raffle, and Music, 1 p.m., Registration at noon. John W. Dill Legion Post, Main St. Brocton. To benefit Sylvia Corbett Mawhir who has been battling Adrenocortical Carcinoma since 2011. Pre-register by picking up a form at the Green Arch Restaurant or send an email request to stridesforsylvia@gmail.com. Can also register the day of the benefit. Design a t-shirt to wear to the walk incorporating the color teal, an awareness ribbon and the slogan “Strides for Sylvia.” Prizes awarded for most creative shirts. The 2 mile walk begins at 1p.m. Registration fee is $10 per person. Kids under 12 walk free. Donations can be made at any Lake Shore branch for those unable to attend. Walkers will receive a “strides for Sylvia” wristband and a light lunch. Music by The Untouchables from 2-4 p.m. Face-painting available.
