Ripley fire damages home

RIPLEY – An early morning fire damaged a house at 9196 E. Johnson Road Saturday. Firefighters from Ripley, South Ripley and Sherman fire departments responded to the scene around 4:10 a.m. The homeowner was home but was able to escape without injury due to a properly functioning smoke detector. Crews were on scene for about 90 minutes. Ripley Fire Chief Mark Smith commended the firefighters for their hard work at the scene. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team.
