Gowanda wins two High School Bowl contests
Gowanda Central School defeated Ellicottville 63-47 and Southwestern Central School 73-70 in recent WJTN High School Bowl matches at Jamestown Community College.
Player of the Match honors went to Jeremy Pickering and Trent Martin of Gowanda.
Gowanda team members also included Nicholas Marrocco, Jessica Sowa, Kelsey Harriman, Crystal Haggert and Meghan Lulas. The team is coached by Frank Fonti.
The Ellicottville team, coached by Ann Chamberlain, included John Alzate, Courtney Antholzner, Aidan Wilson, Kevin Bower, Will Timkey, Max Paddock and Victor Rieman.
Conrad Meyer, Alyssa Carlson, Megan Powers and Noah Wright represented Southwestern. The team is coached by Julia Casselman.
Chautauqua Lake Central School defeated Warren Area High School, 144-79.
Player of the Match honors went to Mariana Mathewson and Molly Hindman of Chautauqua Lake and Conrad Meyer of Southwestern.
Warren was represented by Molly Berardi, Taylor Proper, Shoshanna Ochocki, Emmi Beuger, Derek Hanlin and Ian Lain. The team is coached by Michael McElhaney.
The Chautauqua Lake team, coached by Kim Sweet and Mary Jantzi, also included Alex Swan, Emilie Christie and Ben Lawson.
High School Bowl, now in its 53rd year, is produced by Media One Group in cooperation with JCC and sponsors including the JCC Alumni Association, Honest John’s Pizza and Wings, Jamestown Mattress, Lind Funeral Home, Pepsi, SKF Aeroengine North America, Chautauqua Region Community Foundation, and Delta Kappa Gamma, the International Honor Society of Women Educators.
High School Bowl airs on Saturdays at 12:10 p.m. on radio station WJTN and at 8 a.m. on Sundays on radio station WWSE.
