Human remains in creek may be missing woman
PERRYSBURG – The New York State Police in Collins are investigating the discovery of human remains located by a local fisherman in Cattaraugus Creek.
The State Police responded to the creek Wednesday after receiving a call from the Seneca Nation Marshal’s Office of possible human remains found.
State Police uniform members along with the Bureau of Criminal Investigation Unit descended into the gorge and confirmed that the remains were human.
In December, Kimberley A. Militello, 59, of Gowanda went missing. It is believed she passed away shortly after her disappearance (Dec. 22). The investigation into the cause of death continues.
Due to the location of the body, the State Police SCUBA and aviation units were utilized to remove the body from the fast-moving creek.
The remains were taken to the Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
