Three-run inning gives Lady Hornets 4-2 victory

ELLICOTTVILLE – The Forestville Lady Hornets (5-5) scored three runs in the third inning and never looked back in a 4-2 victory over Ellicottville on Monday in CCAA East II high school softball.

Ashley VanVuskirk had an RBI single while Olivia Burger and VanVuskirk each scored on passed balls.

VanVuskirk finished 2 for 4 with a double while Katie Thompson had two hits of her own in the win.

Alisha Szumigala was the winning pitcher as she had seven strikeouts and gave up six hits. Courtney Scanlan was the losing pitcher as she also struck out seven, gave up seven hits and one walk.

At the plate, Scanlan had two doubles.

The Lady Hornets take on Pine Valley today in South Dayton.
