Voss pitches Fredonia past Silver Creek, 9-2

SILVER CREEK – Noah Voss started on short rest and Weston Ley continued his hot hitting, as Fredonia (14-2, 10-0) dropped Silver Creek, 9-2, in CCAA West I baseball action on Tuesday.

“Noah did a super job pitching,” Fredonia coach Vince Gullo said. “He pitched four innings on short rest and really kept the Silver Creek hitters off balance.”

Voss allowed two runs on one hit – a single by Tim Manning in the bottom of the fourth – and combined with Ley to strikeout 11 and walk four.

At the plate, Ley had a pair of hits, including a three-run double in the second inning.

“Weston has continued his hot hitting,” Gullo said of Ley, who tossed the game’s final three innings. “It’s almost to the point where we expect him to get a hit every time and he almost does.”

Also continuing to tear it up for the Hillbillies was Zack Odebralski, who turned in a 3-for-3 performance, including a pair of RBIs and a run scored.

“I can’t say enough about Zack,” Gullo said. “He came to play the last week and a half and has been one of our hottest hitters. It’s nice to see all of his hard work pay off.”

Cody Smith added a pair of hits, including a triple, in the win while driving in two runs.

Fredonia is back in action on Thursday when it travels to take on the Frewsburg Bears. On Friday, the Hillbillies take on Jamestown at Diethrick Park as part of a benefit for the Wounded Warrior Foundation.
