Dunkirk baseball to host tourney Saturday

The Dunkirk Marauders baseball team is getting ready for the playoffs with a one-day tournament this Saturday at Dunkirk High School.

Originally slated for a two-day event, the games have been condensed into a single-day affair. Starting at noon, Dunkirk will take on Orchard Park and St. Francis will compete against Lake Shore. Both the varsity field and the Babe Ruth field will be used.

Orchard Park is ranked as the No. 2 Large School in western New York.

Shortly after both games are complete, the two winners will square off and the two losing teams will battle.

“When I first started years ago, the tournament was Dunkirk, Fredonia, Orchard Park and Sweet Home,” Jagoda said. “We got away from it. This is a good primer for the playoffs.”
