Ley shines again as Billies handle Dragons

BEMUS POINT – Weston Ley continued his dominating season Monday in leading the Fredonia Hillbillies to a 14-1 thumping of the Maple Grove Red Dragons in CCAA West I high school baseball.

Ley was the winning pitcher as he went six innings, giving up two hits and three walks while fanning eight. At the plate, Ley went 4 for 5 and was a homer shy of hitting for the cycle while driving in three runs.

“Weston continues to do it,” Gullo said of Ley. “He is just terrorizing the other team.”

Cam Voss contributed in the win with three hits, an RBI and two runs scored while Vince Gullo had two hits with a double and two RBIs.

Mike Pucci added two hits with a double and an RBI. Run-scoring singles were hit by Zach Odebralski and Lucas Voss.

“We won the games we had to win,” Gullo said. “Now we sit for a week and we will see what happens.

“Most years, I would say no,” Gullo said when asked if a week off of games and a chance to practice will be helpful in preparation for playoffs. “This year will be beneficial to get practice in. We can work on defense and base running.”
