Public hearing, short agenda for Common Council

The Dunkirk Common Council will meet today in regular session at 5:30 p.m. in City Hall. There are no prefiled resolutions and one under unfinished business; Resolution 36-2014.

That resolution was tabled at the May 6 meeting for a public hearing which will be held today at 5:20 p.m. in City Hall. Local Law 2-2014, which would modify Chapter 65 of the City Code entitled “Sidewalks and Streets,” is the subject of the hearing and 36-2014. The law would bring the city into compliance with state and federal laws and allow the city to get funding from both.

In addition, there are three requests for use of city fields and/or equipment and one loudspeaker application.

Lisa Kozlowski, on behalf of the Dom Polski Club, is seeking to close Antelope Street on June 14 from 1 to 8 p.m. so the club can host a benefit for Kurt Wolnik. A loudspeaker application for the event was also filed for council consideration.

Councilwoman Stacy Szukala is requesting the use of city picnic tables, trash cans, trash bags and the electronic police sign from 9 a.m. to noon on June 25 for the annual Senior Sweep Program.

Cynthia Karnes is requesting the use of Promenschenkel Stadium and Koch’s Field on July 12 for the annual Joe Karnes Memorial Co-Ed Softball Tournament.
