Einink helps Pirates past Bulldogs, 8-5

NORTH COLLINS – Clymer (6-6) won the completion of a game started last Wednesday, 8-5, over CCAA West II foe Brocton (6-6) on Wednesday, at North Collins Central School.

The Pirates took a 7-3 lead in the top of the fifth and never looked back. Down 4-3 entering the frame, Justin Svetz and winning pitcher Mitch Einink singled to get the Pirates going, before Evan Woods singled them home. Andrew Heil followed with a run-scoring single of his own.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second after Ryan Johnson scored on a wild pitch and Latham Dunn was chased home on a run-scoring single off the bat of Derek Walter.

Johnson suffered the loss on the hill after he allowed five runs on seven hits in his three innings of work. He struck out seven and walked one.

At the plate for Brocton, Nash Delcamp finished 2 for 4, including a double, and an RBI.

Brocton and Clymer will be back in action next week when they face each other in the Section 6 Class D playoffs.
