Dunkirk Auxiliary Unit 62 meets

Dunkirk Memorial Unit 62 of the American Legion Auxiliary met recently in the Clubrooms on Central Avenue at 7 p.m. In the absence of the president, First Vice President Audrey Miga conducted the meeting. The Pledge of Allegiance to our Flag was recited in unison. The secretary, Lorraine Bardwell, read the minutes from the previous meeting. These were approved as read.

Members were asked for nominations for officers. Hearing none, the secretary was asked to cast one ballot to re-elect the current officers as follows: Del Jusko, president, Audrey Miga, first vice president, Janet Jagoda, second vice president, Lorraine Bardwell, secretary, and Kyle Ahlstrom, treasurer. Lorraine Bardwell moved to elect the officers. Dawn Ransom seconded the motion, and it carried.

In the absence of Kyle Ahlstrom, the acting president read her report.

Audrey Miga, membership chairman, reported 114 senior members and 16 juniors to-date. Members were asked to seek new members.

Poppy chairman, Janet Jagoda, distributed the poppies to the members, who will be selling them on Memorial Day weekend.

Pat Kibbe suggested sending letters to various social clubs for poppy donations. Audrey Miga will prepare letters and mail same.

The Memorial Day chicken barbecue set for today was discussed. John Miga updated the group on the event. Help is needed to sell tickets and with all phases of the event.

It was noted that Chaplain Anna Schlichter was ill.

Jack Hood, the new commander of Post 62, spoke to the group. The Legion will work together with the Auxiliary, and would like a joint installation of officers.

The County convention will be held June 7 at Post 62. Auxiliary members will prepare lunch items for sale.

Since there was no further business, the meeting was adjourned.

The next meeting will be June 10 at 7 p.m.
