Communities pay tribute

Remember, we did.

On a glorious Monday, residents from Westfield to Silver Creek and Brocton to Fredonia participated in services to pay tribute to the sacrifices made by so many on Memorial Day. At the region’s largest event in the city of Dunkirk, hundreds took part in services and thousands viewed a parade that was filled with pride and achievements.

During the services, speakers George Burns III, Chris Wilson and Peter Clark talked about the important sacrifices made in the past. Hannah Wentz sang the national anthem beautifully and asked those gathered to sing along in “God Bless America.” It was wonderful.

Even the weather, with a visit from some winds, cooperated.

It was definitely a day to remember.
