Wayne G. Taylor, 80, of Forestville, died Sunday, May 25, 2014, at his residence, following an extended illness. He was born in Smith Mills, on September 19, 1933, the son of the late Edward and Marion (Rater) Taylor.
He served in the U.S. Army as a Private in the Korean War. Taylor worked as a bus driver for Silver Creek Central School, from 1968 to 2008. He also previously worked as a mechanic for the former Allegany-Ludlum Steel, Corporation in Dunkirk and was the owner of the former Vet’s in Hanover Taxi. Wayne was a member of J. Carter Knapp American Legion Post #953, Forestville; longtime member of the Christian Motorcycle Association; and a member of Gage Chapel Community Church, Smith Mills. He enjoyed model airplanes, motorcycles, birds and rabbits.
Survivors include two daughters, Vicki Gage of Forestville; Shari (Michael) Miller of Dunkirk; a son, Robert Taylor of Fredonia; two brothers, Bill (Shirley E.) Taylor and Warren (Karen) Taylor; two sisters-in-law Shirley Taylor and Norma Taylor; loving companion Noreen Stachowiak and an aunt Elsie Baker. Also surviving are six grand-children, six great grand-children and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by two brothers Marshall and Richard Taylor, and by a son-in-law Darryl Gage.
There will be no visitation observed. Memorial Services will be held from Gage Chapel Community Church, Smith Mills, at a later date. Date and time to be announced.
