Relationships in a Dysfunctional World training June 20

JAMESTOWN – “Strug-gle for Intimacy in a Dysfunctional World” training will be offered through the Chautauqua Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Council.

Suzanne Joyce will present this training on June 20 and 27 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This 12-hour course is scheduled to be offered at the CASAC Jamestown Office, 501 W. Third St., Jamestown.

There is no such thing as a perfect family. Everyone comes from a family with some degree of dysfunction. Many of us have long suffered the consequences of being raised in an unhealthy environment. As a result of unhealthy messages re-ceived from childhood, adults struggle with life issues, especially with emotional intimacy. The course presenter will demonstrate how these messages are often carried into our adult lives, contaminates relationships, and affects our emotional health and intimacy skills.

This seminar is for family members or for professionals working with clients with related issues. Participants will learn what constitutes healthy relationships, how to achieve them and how to change unhealthy habits and behaviors.

The course is for the general public and clinicians. Also, this course is suitable for those seeking professional credentialing as a Credentialed Prevention Professional or Credentialed Prevention Specialist or re-newal hours for a Credent-ialed Alcoholism and Sub-stance Abuse Counselor, The 3 hours CASAC renewal, CPP/CPS (Sec. 3) are approved by the New York State Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services.

The fee is $145 and pre-registration is required. Community members interested in the topic are welcome to attend.
