Liberty Vineyards brings home international gold
SHERIDAN – Liberty Vineyards & Winery of Sheridan earned a number of medals at the recent 2014 Finger Lakes International Wine Competition held in Rochester and the 2014 International East Meets West Wine Challenge held in Sonoma County, California.
“We are very pleased with the medals we received at these prestigious wine competitions,” said Beth Margolis, Marketing Manager at Liberty Vineyards & Winery.
Liberty Vineyards 2013 Riesling took home a double gold from the Finger Lakes International Wine Competition. The Finger Lakes International Wine Competition is the world’s largest wine competition to support a charity and is open to commercial wineries from all wine-producing countries. All proceeds from the competition benefit Camp Good Days and Special Times, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for children and families all over the world, whose lives have been touched by cancer and other life-threatening challenges. In addition to the double gold for Riesling, Liberty also earned a silver medal for its Lucy’s in the Sky wine at the finger lakes competition.
In addition, Liberty’s Fredonia wine took home gold from the International East Meets West Wine Challenge. In addition to the gold for Fredonia, Liberty Vineyards also received silver medals for its Riesling and Diamond wines in the challenge.
“All of these wines are very approachable – even for people who don’t see themselves as wine connoisseurs. Our Riesling is semi-sweet and fruity and is perfect with fish or chicken or just to sip by itself. Lucy’s in the Sky is a fun, sweet wine that we say is perfect for sipping on a lazy afternoon – it’s the kind of wine that you can share on the patio with some friends and cheese and crackers,” Margolis continued. “Fredonia is a local favorite – it is a semi-sweet red made from the Fredonia grape variety, which was named after the village. Diamond is one of our most-popular white wines. It is semi-sweet and goes with a variety of foods and has a nice pineapple characteristic,” Margolis explained.
