Early Explorers preschool program forming in Ripley
RIPLEY – Where do learning and fun go hand-in-hand?
At Ripley Central School’s Early Explorers program.
The 3-year-old preschool, being piloted in September at RCS, is yet another step in Ripley Central School’s quest to provide parents with strong educational opportunities for their young children.
The Universal Pre-K program for 4 year olds began 13 years ago and has grown into a full-day learning adventure, continued with this year’s addition of after-school clubs that pique children’s interest while honing their creativity and skills, and moving forward to include RCS’s summer day-camp, Eagle University; Ripley Central School’s commitment to cutting-edge early childhood programs continues with this latest venture.
The district is accepting signups of children who will be three by Dec. 1, 2014 for the Early Explorers. The preschool program provides readiness skills in a fun, play-based setting within the school building. Taught by a New York State teacher certified in early childhood, the class will meet four days each week during the regular school year, from Monday to Thursday, 8:05 to 10:50 a.m. Snack will be provided, free of charge.
Children will develop their fine and gross motor skills, social and emotional awareness, language skills, and artistic ability. They will be provided with physical education, occupational therapy enrichment, and speech and language enrichment by experts in those fields.
Class time will include play centers, story time, and counting practice. Children will learn finger plays and songs, create art projects, and explore their creativity in a warm and nurturing environment. By expanding children’s experiences, we help create a more rounded and interested little person.
Parent participation is encouraged in this program. Families will sign up for a day each month to help out in the class, reading with their little ones and playing games together. At least one day per month, the littlest learners at RCS will be proud to bring an adult from home to visit their classroom and meet their friends, thus strengthening the home to school connection.
The children must be potty trained before beginning Early Explorers. Class size will be limited to 10, to allow for maximum interaction with the teacher.
Register by July 1. For more information or to enroll, contact Guidance Secretary Patricia Strine at 736-2631, ext. 212.
