WROTB, Batavia Downs Gaming preparing for Belmont Stakes
BATAVIA – The staff of Western Regional Off-Track Betting Corporation (WROTB) and Batavia Downs Gaming are going through final preparations for Saturday’s Belmont Stakes festivities at each OTB and EZ Bet location in the Western New York Area.
Each WROTB Branch will have #GoChromeGo Nasal Strip stickers and key chains for giveaways. In addition, one lucky OTB Branch patron could win $5,000, courtesy of Keller Chevrolet of Buffalo, if California Chrome wins the Triple Crown. Locations of OTB Branches and EZ Bets can be found at www.westernotb.com.
“We’ve had a great turn out for our previous two Triple Crown parties,” OTB Handicapper and Director of Live Racing, Todd Haight, said. “Our $10 Trifecta special will be available which includes lunch, a drink as well as $5 Free Play and a $2 bet on the Belmont Stakes.”
’34 Rush’ will have drink specials, including the Belmont Breeze, which comes in a collectible glass. The race will be on both of their big screen TVs.
“Based on what we saw for the Derby and the Preakness, the crowd inside of ’34 Rush’ should be full of excitement,” Ryan Hasenauer, Director of Marketing, said. “After setting records in terms of handle for the first two jewels of the Triple Crown, we expect the same for the Belmont. There is certainly some money to be won.”
Owned and operated by 15 Western New York counties and the cities of Rochester and Buffalo, Western Regional OTB is a public benefit corporation with headquarters in Batavia. WROTB owns and operates 30 branches, as well as Batavia Downs Gaming, a standard bred racetrack and gaming facility.
As you know the Belmont Stakes is the Test of Champions and more horses have failed (12) to win the Triple Crown than have been victorious (11), the last being Affirmed way back in 1978.
All OTB branches open at 11 a.m. Saturday morning with wagering permitted on the Belmont Stakes until post time, which is scheduled for 6:52 p.m.
