Route 60 accident sends one to hospital

ELLICOTT – One person has been sent to the hospital following a motor vehicle accident that occurred shortly after 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Route 60 and Moon Road.

According to Kevin Pierce, patrolman with the Ellicott Police Department, a white Chevrolet Cruze carrying two people was traveling northbound on Route 60, when the driver attempted to change the music in the car and lost sight of the road. The car then continued straight as the road veers left by Moon Road.

Pierce said the vehicle struck a utility pole and embankment markers in front of the building located by the intersection, before traveling across Moon Road and striking another utility pole. The vehicle then came to rest in a ditch at the side of the road.

The vehicle was totaled, and the driver was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
